The High Court Brings on the Smack Down

Today I was surprised to hear that the US Supreme Court gave the Bush administration the smack down.  It is about time.  We all should be held responsible for our actions, even those in high office.  You can not just go around making your own rules!

The Tour Continues...

Old friends come through town. I am glad that I now have the opportunity to say hello when they come to the mid-west.

When you travel with someone you really bond with that person, no matter what happens you can depend on them to tell you the truth and to point you in the correct direction. This time was no exception.

It was good to discuss old times. One Christmas we took Europe by storm. That was a rough trip but all of us learned something from it. We learned that no matter how much time passes that when you have true friends you can pick up where you left off. Posted by Picasa

Seeing Old Friends

I have been saying goodbye to this place that I have called home for the last few years.  Tonight I saw an old co-worker from the law firm that I worked at.   We are alike in so many ways.  We both have a wondering spirit.  We have both lived overseas for an extended period of time.   I knew from the first time that we met that we had the same type of soul.  A soul that does not like to be pigeon holed or stuck in one place for too long.   I am sorry that I let or friendship slip, I thought other things were important, I was wrong.  I now realize what I lost and am determined to maintain it, no matter the distance.

Sex in Canada

In an effort to stop Canada from becoming a haven for pedophiles, Canada Raises the Age of Consent to 16.  Now they should bump the drinking age to 21 to stop the tide of young Americans flocking to the great white north to celebrate their 19 th birthday!

Stormy Weather

It looks like all of the bad weather is going south of Mentor.  I was really hoping for a big storm.   There is just something about a storm that is exciting.  When I was little I lived on the main street of my hometown.  It was a five lane street and it ran east to west.   The storms would blow right down the street.  My Grandfather and I would just stand out there and watch them.   There she was Mother Nature in her unbridled power on show for all to see.  It was like an accident, you had to just stand there and watch it, and you were mesmerized by it.   Alas today I will not be given that entertainment.  They are having a rough time of it south of us and we just get a little rain.   Bummer!

What Does Freedom Mean

1.)    Being able to listen to hip hop, country of Buffett and not feeling you have to hide it.

2.)    Not having to listen to obscure bands against your will even after you have tried to like them but can not bring yourself like them.

3.)    Not having to swallow your pride and keep your mouth shut because you are afraid of angering someone else.

4.)    Not being tied down to one place because of someone else.

5.)    Being able to follow your dreams.

Fins

She came down from Cincinnati
It took her three days on a train
Lookin' for some peace and quiet
Hopes to see the sun again

Lives down by the ocean
Takin' care to look for sharks
They hang out down around the Waterfront way
And feed right after dark

Chorus:
Can't you feel 'em circlin', honey
Can't you feel 'em schoolin' around
Fins to the left, fins to the right
You're the only bait in town
Oh oh
Oh oh
You got fins to the left, fins to the right
You're the only bait in town

Saving up most of her money
"I thought I saw something"
Wants to head it south in May
Roll in the sand with a rock 'n' roll man
Somewhere down Montserrat way

The money's still good in the season
Helps to lighten up her load
Boys keep her high as the months roll by
She's getting postcards from the road

Chorus:
Can't you feel 'em closin' in, honey
Can't you feel 'em schoolin' around
Fins to the left, fins to the right
You're the only bait in town

Sailed off to Antigua
Three days on a boat
Lookin' for some peace and quiet
Hopes to keep her dreams afloat

Feels like a remora
School's still close at hand
Just behind the reef are the big white teeth
The sharks that swim on the land

Chorus:
Can't you feel 'em circlin', honey
Can't you feel 'em schoolin' around
Fins to the left, fins to the right
You're the only bait in town
Hey you got fins to the left, fins to the right
You're the only girl in town

Evil Overlord

While our beloved leader (Kevin) is on vacation the other mgs are taking turns being in charge.  Today it is Ms. Thing's turn!   She has let it go to her head.  She has turned into mega witch.  Someone once said that no matter how pretty a girl is there is someone out there sick of her shit, well the list with this girl is long and distinguished.   I am so regretting that this is my late day.  I am here with her until 21:00.  God help me!   Stress, Stress, Stress!!!  This all that I need today.

2000 328i with Rack

Doesn't my baby look pretty. She is a 2000 328I. She has been outfitted with a Thule cargo box and a bike rack on the other side. It looks very European! I installed the rail system myself; the box was installed at the place where I purchased it. The guy was even nice enough to put on the BMW bike rack for me! I have almost doubled the capacity of my trunk with this. Posted by Picasa

Reasons for Loving My Job!!

I love my job! I get to drive cars like this 650cic with a sport package. In addition I can do this every day! This car has 360hp and can get moving at a fairly nice clip! This car is just HOT!! I want a car painted like this! Posted by Picasa

The Ultimate Drive

Saturday was Classic BMW’s day to host the BMW Ultimate Drive. This is a way that BMW raises money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. It works like this:

* BMW brings one of each model to a dealership (excluding M cars). The cars that they bring are specially painted.

*In the showroom is the signature car, this is the car that you sign before drive. This car goes down to the BMW museum in Spartanburg.
*When you are called you drive a car on a set route.
*For each mile that you drive BMW gives $1 to the Susan G. Komen foundation.

Another thing this day does is give us a chance to talk with some or our old customers. That is nice too. In addition, there are not that many people who are interested buying cars. Also we were encouraged to participate in the Ultimate Drive. This is where My job gets fun. Posted by Picasa

Map Of The World

Watching the people on the street today she couldn’t help but smile
Watchin’ the town go walking by all shaded eyes and alibis
Strange how much pain you can hide away beneath a well-cut suit
This is the day she walks away
And the lights of the city pushin’ a good time
Asking her out tonight
But she’s saving her money for a better life

She’s got a map of the world
Pinned up on her wall
She’s got a map of the world
She’s gonna go and see it all
She’s gonna see it all

Watchin the people on the street today
Such a lonely sight’swore she could see their dreams go by
All cars and stars and buy buy buy
Runnin on empty runnin to stand still
No time for their own lives
Sleepwalking through the danger signsAnd it feels a little scary

A little runaway
Letting go of all she’s done
And the lights of the city, well they’re all singin’
Buy some of this, cmon
But when you lie to yourself
You lie to everyone

She’s got a map of the world
Pinned up on her wall
She’s got a map of the world
She’s gonna go and see it all
She’s gonna see it all

She’ll empty the sand from her shoes
In paradise
Sail out across the bay
She’ll dance under an island sky
Until the break of day

She’s got a map of the world
Pinned up on her wall
It’s such a beautiful world
Glistening and magical

She’s got a map of the world
Shining away in her mind
Colouring-in her life
This is the day she walks
She’s gonna see it all
She’s gonna breathe it all
Paris london new york
She’s gonna see it all

A World Away

I spoke with the family today. I have been talking to them a lot more lately. Today they gave me the news that Alicia made it safely to Alaska. This is her first trip away from home without my mom. She is participation in a program that has been going on at our old middle school for as long as I can remember. She is a participant of the Alaska Great Lakes Program. I did the Great Lakes portion when I was her age. I took my first trip away from my family at her age; I went to Greece and Turkey. I think that this will be good for her. I wonder how she will react. The PB&J diet may get old really quick!

Unhappy People (Cont.)

The guy that took delivery, called back twice within a half-hour to go over things that I had just explained to him before he left. In addition, he couldn't get my name correct. He kept calling me Monique! I guess since my name is French in origin that I should be grateful that he came that close. Pricks abound!

Unhappy People

Life is not always happy, I can say from expierence.  But people that go through life looking to make a big deal out of every little things just drive me nuts.  You do not need to blow your top if you don't get your way.  Do not order me around "get me a diet coke or pepsi."  I have my diginity.  Just what I need another person being a prick in my life!  No Thank You,

The Weather is Here, Wish You Beautiful

This song is for Billy Clyde Tuggel. I hope you make it to Tahiti one day.
-- Spoken:
"Play Ball!! (one, two, three, four)"
"Where's my per diem? (Ladies and gentlemen, the Carl Reiner Band)"
"Hey Bobby, where's the keys to the rent-a-car?"
"Jimmy, Jimmy, can I open the show in
Atlanta please?"
"Warning! Don't ever start a band!"

He worked hard all year, just wanted a few weeks alone
But his old lady's into modelin', she can't get away from a phone
Besides she bitches about the mosquitoes
She says, "Down there there is nothing to do"
Her goddamn phone never stops ringin'
He'll try the service in a day maybe two

Well he's on his third drink before the wheels of the plane leave the ground
Makin' points with the stewardess high over Long Island Sound
She's also spending some time on the island
Too much city madness gives her the blues
They make a date to go dancin' and dinin'
It seems neither has that much to lose

Chorus:
The weather is here I wish you were beautiful
My thoughts aren't too clear but don't run away
My girlfriend's a bore, my job is too dutiful
Hell nobody's perfect would you like to play?
I feel together today

Well now that's just the start of a well-deserved overdue binge
Meanwhile back in the city certain people are starting to cringe
His lawyers are calling his parents
His girlfriend doesn't know what to think
His partners are studying their options
He's just singin' and orderin' drinks

Chorus:
The weather is here I wish you were beautiful
The skies are too clear life's so easy today
The beer is too cold, the daiquiri's too fruitiful
No place like home when you're this far away
I don't care what they say (I don't care)

He's goin' back to New York pack it up and let everyone know
It was something that he should have done such a long time ago
Still time to start a new life in the palm trees
Ah, Billy Clyde wasn't insane
And if it doesn't work out there'll never be any doubt
That the pleasure was worth all the pain

Chorus:
The weather is here I wish you were beautiful
The skies are too clear life's so easy today
The beer is too cold, the daiquiri's too fruitiful
No place like home when you're this far away
Time for to play
I need time for to play
Time for to play
I need time for to play
I need time for to play
I need time for to play
I need time for to play
I need time for to play

I was looking through some of the photos I have and I realized that I didn't put of the photos that I took when I was home. I love my small little home town. It is a wonderful place to have come from. The Population of the town is around 7,500 people. It is located in south central Michigan. The winters are mild there and the summers are wonderful. It is historic and picturesque. I am sad that I will not see the town for a while, but I am going to a much warmer place. The places that are pictured here are of the National House Inn, Brooks Memorial Fountain, and The Honolulu House. Marshall is a historic land district and has over 25 different historical markers within the city limits of the town.

Life growing up there was all of the best and worst of small town living. You had a community, however the lack of stuff to do lead many people to do drugs, have sex and conduct other activities that if our parents had known they would have killed us for. I managed to avoid those activities.

Some of you may wonder why I write about this place now, now since I on the verge of a new life. Well as it turns out my new life starts with an old connection to this place. One of my two best friends from high school has been a true help to me in my present situation. She has offered me a direction for my new life away from this mistake of the last 2 years. It is amazing how friends can be. How without even asking they are there for you. I am truly blessed. I have been lucky to have friends like Lauren, Vicki, Salena and Sarah. Posted by Picasa

Seeing Old Friends

I have a friend that the timing is off with.  There was a time when our paths crossed at the right time, and we had a wonderful time.   We stormed Europe for one lovely summer and painted it red.  That summer was one of the best of my life.  We were young and free from restraint.  We are in exact opposite situations now.  2 months ago, the situation was opposite and had things been different who would have know what would have happened, but commitments are commitments and I live by the belief that trying to reduce the amount of regrets you have in your life is the best way.   So now I am the odd person out.  I am happy that things are working out well for my friend.  It is like a game of ping-pong with the ball always on the other side of the table.   It will be good to see my old friend, to say good bye.  Who knows when I will get up this way again.

Stuff

You never realize how much stuff you have until you have to move it!  I went through so many boxes and found papers from my childhood.  This is all stuff that I will never use.  I have plates, dolls, books and magazines covering the English Royal Family.  I have Polish pottery that means so much to me.  I have a sewing machine, cutting table and sewing cabinet that I would love to keep.  But here is the thing, I can't keep any of it.  I weep for my things and my life.  But getting rid of things can be freeing!  Things weigh you down.  They keep your rooted in one place.  I have a wondering soul!  I want to go out and see the world.

The Night that I Painted the Sky

I came from the north
Escaping convention
Modern invention that won't let me be
To the shores of St. Martin
With my fiction addiction
To restart the fire
A dreamer's remedy

Independence Day
And all I remember
Was a midnight rainbow
That fell from the sky
As I stand on the beach
I slowly surrender
To the child in me
That can't say goodbye

The rockets in the air
And the people everywhere
Put away their differences for a while
Oh I am still a child
When it comes to something wild
Oh that was the night
I painted the sky

I dug in the sand
Like a boy on a mission
And there in my hands
A pyro's delight

If un bombadier
A night time magician
I sparked the sky
As the rockets fly from view

The rockets in the air
And the people everywhere
Put away their differences for a while
es I am still a child
When it comes to something wild
Oh that was the night
I painted the sky

Oh the mortars they roar
In anticipation
Proceeding the sigh
Of the uplifted eyes
It showers us all
In sulfuric sensation
The colors shine
And a fiery rhyme tonight

The rockets in the air (Ooooh...)
And the people everywhere
Won't you put away your differences for a while
I am but a child
When it comes to something wild
Oh that was the night
That was the night
Oh that was the night
I painted the sky
Painted the sky
Painted the sky

The Tour Continues

The goodbye tour of Cleveland Continues!!! Insted of packing today, Vicki and I took care of some errands that needed to be done. Vicki had to drop some stuff off to an old friends family and I had to say good bye to an old friend. Another friend I had to say good bye to was the city of Cleveland. It is really pretty here in the summer. I realized today some of the things that I have never done here. I had never really spent all that much time the parks on the lake. I would have loved to flown kites in the park. The climate here is wonderful for growing flowers, I would have loved to do that as well. Hopefully my next home will allow for plants and kites and wonderful summer activities. I also hope that the views are even more splendid then the ones pictured here.

WOW Lake Erie

Vicki came down to keep me company. Instead of packing all of my worldly belongings so that I can start a new life somewhere else, I decided to do a goodbye tour of Cleveland. We started off trying to figure out where to eat, since I have not been able to eat in 4 days I didn’t really have an opinion. We decided to go downtown. On the way down the East Shore Way we saw the Beautiful sunset (it reminded me of Muskegon). I had to stop and capture it.

Goodbye sun hello moon!

Here is Vicki at the Lake! Posted by Picasa

Thank You

I would like to thank all of my friends who have been there for me this week.  I feel overwhelmed by your support!

Banana Republics

Down to the Banana Republics, down to the tropical sun
Go the expatriated Americans, hopin' to find some fun
Some of them go for the sailing, caught by the lure of the sea
Tryin' to find what is ailing, livin' in the land of the free

Some of them are running from lovers, leaving no foreward address
Some of them are running tons of ganja
Some are running from the I.R.S.

Chorus:
Late at night you will find them
In the cheap hotels and bars
Hustling the senioritas while they dance beneath the stars
Spending those renegade pesos on a bottle of rum and a lime
Singin' give me some words I can dance to
Or a melody that rhymes

First you learn the native customs
soon a word of spanish or two
You know that you cannot trust them
'Cause they know they can't trust you
Expatriated Americans feelin' so all alone
Telling themselves the same lies
That they told themselves back home

Down to the Banana Republics, things aren't as warm as they seem
None of the natives are buying any second-hand American dreams

Chorus:
Late at night you will find them
In the cheap hotels and bars
Hustling the senioritas while they dance beneath the stars
Spending those renegade pesos on a bottle of rum and a lime
Singin' give me some words I can dance to
Or a melody that rhymes

Down to the Banana Republics, down to the tropical sun
Go the expatriated Americans hopin' to find some fun

Far Side of the World

A friend sent me an e-mail today quoting a song that I had forgotten about:

So while I make my move
On the big board game
Up and down a Spanish highway,
Some things remain the same.
Girls meet boys
and the boys tease girls
I'm heading out this morning,
For the Far Side of the World.
