Cold in Europe

I have the habit of listening to NPR in the mornings on my way to work (since my Ipod is still in for service and it does not look like it will be returning anytime soon).   I noticed a week ago that they were discussing how cold it was in Russia.  This came in handy when Layne needed to find a meteorological story for her meteorology class that she is taking at the local community college.   Since she needed something in I suggested looking at the New York Times or the Washington Post.   In the Post we found a story about the cold spreading across Europe.  In this article it told of the amazing things that are happening due to the cold.   It has been so cold in Germany that, according to the Washington Post , "At the zoo in Dresden, Germany, 21 Humboldt penguins were moved from their minus 6 outdoor environment into a building where the temperature was a more comfortable 32 degrees to ensure their feet didn't freeze. "  Not that is COLD!!  I can only imagine who cold it was in Krakow, in addition, count my blessings that I do not live there right now!!

By Request

I must apologize, I didn't really write all that much in November. I had a lovely time in NYC. MDB and I went there for thanksgiving. We went to the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. MDB's Mother hosted us and made thanksgiving dinner and it was wonderful. The day after thanksgiving we went to see Sweet Charity and then I had dinner with some friends at their apartment. It is always nice to see old friends, one that you have know in good times and bad.

I really like NYC. It is big and there is always something to do. You can always find whatever type of food that you are looking for. I will always have special memories of that wonderful city. I will post pictures from that trip soon!

Tuesday Wrap-up

Today was pretty good for a day in the Car Biz! I sold one car and I see that a car that I have on order will be here soon! That should make my life a little less stressful. Unfortunately one of my co-workers had food poisoning this morning and had to go home. She was there for 4 hours. The worst thing is that this is her 12-hour day and she had to come back and work the rest of it. She didn’t look all that great. I feel for her.

I had planned to go to the Gym today, however it was so packed that I didn’t even go any further then the front desk. I like people, but when it is so packed that you have to wait to do cardio… I would rather wait until tomorrow. I will have to find the strength within my self to get up tomorrow and do it (Wed is my day off!!!).

I spoke with an old friend today, and they are doing well. All in all it was a good day! Now I have to plan my Wed! I want to get stuff done tomorrow.

COLD!!!

As the wind blows off the lake on to mentor, I wonder how much longer we have to endure winter. Thank heavens that the snow is not here, but the cold is still bad. No one likes to shop for cars when it is this cold.

Oops...just checked weather.com, we are to get snow this afternoon, I guess that I spoke too soon.

Empty!

The lot is empty! Yet I am still here.

The Sick House

MDB is feeling sickly and I am waiting for the other shoe to drop and land me sick as well.  This having to go in and out all day doesn't help matters either.   I do not wish to get sick, but I am starting to feel a little roughness in my throat.  The one blessing is that I will not have to work this Sunday, so I may have a chance to recoup!

Another Saturday at a Car Dealership

Saturday at a car dealership in January is always tedious and today is no exception.  There are hardly any customers coming in and we are trying to find things to keep us from going postal from boredom.   After I dusted the cars and checked them to see what the level of fuel was, there was really nothing left to do.  February and January are the worst months in the car biz.   There are only so many jokes that you can tell and so many websites that you can look at that are not blocked by the administrator.  Well I only have 4 more hours to go!

If You Have Something to Hide, Do Not Get a Parrot!

This is the Sad Story of Ziggy, the Too-Perfect Parrot .  This Story from was featured on NPR's Talk of the Nation.  It demonstrates why it is important to think of all aspects of life when choosing a pet.  A Parrot may not be the best pet to get if you have secrets that you want to keep.

Another Day Off

Today was my day off and I took advantage of it. As MDB mentioned in his post "Working Out Hard? Or Hardly Working Out?" I joined a fitness centre, and today I went to work out. My reasons for joining was actually to decrease my expenses. I had been going to a personal trainer (whom I enjoyed and was heart broken to give up) however it was costing quite a pretty penny and with sales being slow, I had to cut back. It ends up being cheaper to get a membership, but the down side is that I have to exhibit some discipline. That has not always been my strong suit.

In addition, I went to the Cleveland Museum of Art today. I went to a special exhibition of the Arts and Crafts movement that has been on display since October. This is the last week for it and I didn’t want to miss it. I loved it!! I love the look of the furniture and the ideas that were behind it. As for the rest of the day, it is up in the air. I may sew on my sewing machine (yes I do sew) or go for a class at the fitness centre that I joined. There is another project that looms ahead of me, that is finishing painting the master bedroom. I think that I will ask my friend to come over and help with that next week! At least that is a plausible plan!

New Years Resolutions

I am not in the habit of writing resolutions, but this year I have a bit of down time at work, so I decided that this would be a good use of my time. So here we go:

I here by resolve to do the following:
  1. Drink more water
  2. Exercise more (yes I know this is lame, but please humour me)
  3. Re-dedicate myself to my work
  4. Be nicer
  5. Do better at follow through

I reserve the right to revise and extend.
